Dd is 10months old.until a week ago she had bottles and 3meals during the day,and was bf at night.last week started bottles at night too-thought my milk was drying up. Anyway,it works out that she eats more or less every 2 hours during the day-bottle,fruit,bottle,chicken and veg, bottle,
snack of some sort, baby rice, bottle at bed time-
And is waking genuinely hungry every 3hours at night and finishing a whole bottle each time (bottle = 200ml).
Surely by this age she should be able to go longer?!
Advice on what's normal would be appreciated muchly!!

To me it sounds as if you should be giving more solids. Why is she just having baby rice for dinner. At 10 months I would have thought that she should be having more of a meal like she does at lunch time?

My dd is 7mo and she has more solids than your dd. Porridge for breakfast is a good one too. Maybe fruit isn't enough for breakfast

My Ds is 6.5 Months and eats:

7am, 8oz milk & porridge & 1/2 slice toast and fruit
11.30am: Lunch. Protein and carb (like curry and rice with veggies), yog & Fruit
2.30pm: 8oz Milk
5pm: Dinner. Pasta and sauce, small rice cake / biscuit.
7pm: 8oz milk.

He drinks water with meals.

He sleeps 7-7/6am without a feed. He is on the 91st-98th percentile and weight something like 21lbs.

It looks like your DD doesn't have breakfast or dinner? Could that be it? Babies are supposed to consume 90-120 calories for every 1 kg of weight. A bottle of milk (usually) is about 20 calories per oz, so a 200ml feed is 120ish calories. Baby rice is also about 20 calories per oz.

Assuming your baby is on the 50th percentile, she's around 8kg; that's 720-960 calories a day - or 8 bottles, which sounds like exactly how many your DD is having?

Thanks for the replies. She's 97th percentile for weight so I assume she's getting enough food. I'll try upping her solids in the morning. I found when I give her a real dinner she's up all night with wind, no matter what food it is that she's eaten!

Try just giving carbs for dinner, soups and pastas are great. Fruit and veg are usually pre bedtime wind causers :)

Does she just have fruit for breakfast? Have you tried her with something more sustantial?

Her day could be something like this
7am bottle
8am ready brek with raisins
10.30 bottle and snack liked baby rice cake and fruit
12ish lunch whatever you are having should be fine but if you are stuck try her with eggy bread or a sandwich and some chopped veg.
3ish bottle and snack. There are some good snack suggestions here

Sorry posted too soon

5ish dinner with you, things like spag Bol, fish pie, homemade pizza and toad in the hole should fill her up without causing too much wind. Try her with a pudding too.

7pm bottle and bed.

If that's not enough bottles you could separate the snacks and bottles to get another bottle in.

Have a read of the MN weaning info. There is a useful timetable in the "moving on" section.

Maybe give the dinner a bit earlier so she's had plenty of time to get wind out. A bath after dinner should help with tummy issues too, relaxing massage could help squeeze some nice farts out too!!
