Introducing cows milk

Need some advise on how to introduce cows milk to be daughter.

She's been getting it in her cereal for a week now and I tried her with it got in her bottle this morning and she wouldn't take it after a few sucks. So it looks like I'm going to need to add it to her formula for a wee bit.

I should say she only takes two bottles now, when she wakes and before bed. I make these up as my DH baths her an the morning one is fast cooled and put in the fridge.

So my question is, when do I add the cows milk? When I've made the bottle fresh? Before I heat and give to her? And should I start with 6oz formula and 1oz cow? Hopefully someone else had to do this! Smile

How old is your daughter? I'm assuming she's just turned 1?

The current advice is to try and stop using bottles at 1yr old:

So, could you try giving her cows milk in a sippy cup? If she drinks water from a sippy cup at the moment she might get the hang of it. And she might not mind that it isn't formula as its not coming out of a bottle.

Yeah she's just one. I did try it in a sippy cup a week or so ago and she want impressed. Then projectile vomited up her entire dinner! She loves her water!

Thought if I could get her onto the cows milk, then move to a cup.

Once she is one she only needs 300ml of full fat cows milk per day and this can include cows milk used in cereals and cooking.

If you ask for this thread to be moved to the breast and bottle section you might get a few more responses on how to move from bottle of formula to cups of milk Smile

Thanks

She still likes her two 7oz bottles so I'm in no hurry to get her off them. Worried she's not getting enough calcium etc as she's a bit fussy with her food.

With our twins we used to do half and half, make the bottles up fresh and then the cows milk would cool it down to the right temperature for them.

It sounds like the right idea to start with 1oz cows milk and then build it up slowly. I would say make the formula up first and add the cows milk just before giving it to her.

I wouldn't be in any rush to give up bottles, my boys completely refuse to drink plain cows milk without chocolate flavouring and its a real PITA.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to try 2oz tonight and see how it goes. If she doesn't notice I'll up it slowly!

Just needed to know I'm not the only who had this issue as everyone I've spoken to IRL just made the swap no problems.
