Infant feeding

3 month old taking large night feeds

I know that I am very lucky that my DD sleeps so well at night but since starting a bedtime routine she now wakes at about 3ish every morning and takes about 6oz plus, she then goes back to sleep until 7ish but doesn't want to feed again until about 10am?! I have tried doing dreamfeeds at 10pm but it has made no difference and she still wakes. It wouldn't bother me that much but in about 10 weeks we are going away for a family wedding and my godmother is looking after both girls and am hoping she wont be woken at 3am. I am hoping it is just a phase but can't help thinking that I should persevere with the dreamfeed as I don't expect her to be able to last from 7-7. Any advice please!

I would certainly expect that your godmother will be woken! Your DD will be about 5m then, judging from your post, and it's very normal for feeds to still be going on overnight at that point. Plus you've got the 4 month sleep regression before then and that can alter sleep patterns for a long time.

Anyone who baby sits a baby ie under 3 should expect to be woken and be blooming pleased if not.

Urs is 3mths, she will be woken whatever u do. Get over it, or take her with you.

And feeds considering time lapses don't sound extortionate. Better than small/all night surely?

Thanks for your posts. I would have loved to have taken my DD's with me but going to Australia and back in 10 days with 2 under 18 months is not really doable. As I said I am very lucky with her sleep (the bonus of having a 9lb12oz baby?!) but she has recently changed her feeding pattern to this, I will start the dreamfeed again and see what happens.

Good grief, your godmother is in loco parentis for TEN DAYS? Can you really not take at least the little one with you? I'd be worried about the effect on your bond leaving her for that amount of time at so young an age.
