Infant feeding

No appetite

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but...

My baby is 8 weeks old and is exclusively breast fed. Friends told me my appetite would increase when breast feeding, but it hasn't. In fact, I barely have an appetite at all and have lost interest in food.

This started when I got pregnant really as I felt similar in the first and third trimesters. I used to love to cook and am a real foodie normally - so I'm quite concerned my appetite has disappeared! Even when I do eat, I rarely eat a full meal as I can feel mildly queasy as a result of eating. Nothing seems to taste the same as it used to. Nothing tastes as good either.

Is this common for women to experience when breast feeding? My son is gaining weight and there are no issues with feeding, everything is going really well...

Is your mood and sleep OK? (Proviso for 'sleep being OK' that you have an 8 week old!) Do you have any sudden tearfulness? Just a thought that loss off appetite can sometimes go along with depression/PND and it's often easy not to notice symptoms.
