Hi

DD is 14 weeks and was ebf until 10 weeks, when we added a bottle of formula at night, to get her used to it, as I have to return to work shortly.

I am at the point now where I need to stop breastfeeding and get onto a full formula routine.

She has 4 ounces at night before bed. Could anyone advise how many formula feeds a day I should be doing, when I start her and how many ounces per feed.

She bf every 3 hours in the day and every 2 hours at night, but I'm at a loss as to how many formula feeds she will have per 24 hours.

What is your daily routine and amounts used if soley forumla fed.

I wish I didnt have to give up bf, but I have no way round it as I will be returning to a 55 hour working week.

Thanks in advance x

Hi there- I feel your pain! Dreading returning myself and I'll have to ff but at least I can bf morning and night. Anyway I plan on using the guidelines on the tin- they tell you how many feeds and scoops in a day. I'll tweak it when I need to but that's how I'll start off x

Hi there. My ds is 12 weeks but is a big boy. Last weigh in he was 12 lb 13 and he was only 8 weeks then. Anyway, my boy has 3 oz at 7am, 5 oz at 10, 1 and 4. Then I give him hungry baby carton (7 oz) at 7pm and 11 (ish)pm. Which he rarely finishes - but I throw what's left. He sometimes wakes for another feed around 5am but he only has a small amount then (think this is a habit wake!). I'm pretty sure according to the box my ds should be on 5 x 7 oz in 24 hrs for his weight but he eats more frequently and less because of reflux. He doesn't always finish bottles and he sometimes needs more....but I just go with the flow. I think you'll find a happy ground for you and your LO.....all babies are different. I drove myself crazy in the early days of giving up bf by trying to get him to take what it says on the box.....didn't work for us so had to feel our own way! Good luck. GrinGrin
