Infant feeding

Getting desperate now. How do I get 7mo off the boob!

Have posted before and have got some good advice but I am starting to slightly panic about getting DD off the boob! She will not have any types of bottles or cups.

She is now starting to let me feed her "food" (which has been a struggle) during the day but she does loves her boob! I really want to stop the breastfeeding during the day, 1) because of going back to work and 2) because she has a massive tooth at the bottom (from 8weeks) and she knows how to use it and it is really hurting.

Also she feeds to sleep at night which I don't really mind and am quite happy to do feeds at night and in morning but am at a loss of how to get her to drink milk from anything other than me!

Does anyone have any suggestions please??

When are you going back to work?

Some baby's don't take to solids straight away and focing the issue can cause negative food associations so try to be relaxed with food around her.

As for the bottle thing try a cup rather then a bottle and pick one and stick to it, it can take a little while for them to grasp how to use it. There learning a new skill so swaping and changing will just confuse her. Often BF baby's acuatly find a open cup easier to drink from, so something like a dody cup or a free flow cup no valves.

I feel your pain Grin . My DD never drank milk from anything apart from me and my DS (also 7 months) is showing every sign of being the same. We have had some success with a Medela breastfeeding teat but they are £££££.

I did find that from around 8/9 months she was happy to drop milk feeds all together during the day and wait for me to get home. She would take water out of a cup if me and my boobs weren't around and I just left her with plenty of yoghurts and other dairy during the day.

She's nearly 3 now and still has never drunk a bottle or cup of milk Hmm despit stopping breastfeeding at about 18 months.

thank you MiGril - I go back in 7 weeks. She will take water from a free flow cup but not milk, either formula or expressed. She is teething at the moment so I think she likes the boob as a comfort as well.

Thanks pushme. It's comforting to know that there is a possibility she may by the time I go back to work be ok waiting until I get home. Good idea about leaving the dairy products.

Thanks to you both
