Thinking of leaving DS with the ILs for a w/e away but he refuses any kind of milk (expressed, formula or cow's mlk) in any kind of bottle/cup/beaker/straw cup. HV (or actually I think she's a NN) said he'd be fine for a w/e without milk as long as he had yogurts, milk on cereal, cheese etc. Is this ok or should I ignore her? Gut instinct says he needs milk but that might be me feeeling I need to feed him. DS is just shy of 1 yo.

Nutritionally he'll be fine for a weekend, but he will miss you - and have no way of understanding you will be back soon. You will need to express for comfort while you are away. You will miss him, too.

Bf at a year is part of your relationship with him - not the milk itself, really, though that's wonderful stuff too :)

He will get over his missing you but he will prob need you a lot on your return.

The milk won't be an issue. But the closeness and missing of you will. You will become very engorged and put you at risk of mastitis. Make sure you pump regually. .
