How much whole milk for just turned 1 year old?

Just wondered how much whole milk you are giving your little ones! Mine is as follows:-

6oz whole milk - 5am
1 weetabix with whole milk - 6.30am
3oz whole milk - 9.30am
dinner/pudding with little bit of water 12.00pm
5oz whole milk at 2.30pm
tea/pudding (banana) with little bit of water
6oz whole milk 6.30pm
bed

Just wondered if giving too much milk, he does drink water from hus beaker during lunch times but does not have a lot, should i be dropping one of the milk bottles and introducing juice instead seeing as he does not have a lot of water? Which juice is the best?

Juice isn't a good idea as it is so sugary, I'd keep offering water.

The recommendation between 12 and 24 months is 12oz whole milk a day. My ds tends to have 3 or 4 cups of 3-4oz of milk a day, plus milk in cereal, cheese and yoghurt.

They should really be off bottles now because they are bad for teeth, or at least have teeth brushed after milk at bedtime.

Agree with Rita, bin the juice and just keep offering water. Once your DS realises water is the only thing on offer he'll drink it, he's not going to die of thirst and he'll thank you when he's older and has lovely teeth with no fillings . Ditching the bottles now will also ensure he has lovely teeth too.

I'd cut him down on the milk and offer more solids instead, perhaps offering things like a homemade flapjack or fruit or, breadsticks and hummous, things like that instead of his 9.30 and 2.30 bottles. If you are stuck for ideas there are some recipes here, like
Squashy Mini Muffins and Wrappy-uppy Dinner, and there are some snack ideas here or see if your library has got this book.

If you are worried about his fluid intake make sure he always has access to a beaker with a lid and water in it.
