Infant feeding

Weaning - how much to feed? A bit long!

I have a 51/2 month old DD, whom I have started to wean a few weeks ago. She currently has 4 x 8oz bottles per day, sometimes she doesn't finish them if she has had enough food. At lunch time I offer 1/2 bottle, food then the rest of bottle & often she will only take 1 or 2 oz more.
At night I give her an 8oz bottle & then her dinner. She has the full bottle & then just eats & eats & eats!! She basically keeps going until I get worried that she has had WAY too much and stop feeding her. I get stressed she will vomit in her sleep and choke. She has silent reflux and when I put her down tonight she smelt very strongly of vomit.
I am now sitting outside the bedroom door listening to her, too stressed to go downstairs.
Any suggestions on how much I should feed her? Tonight she had 1/2 a sweet potato with a handful of peas and sweetcorn blended with approx 11/2oz milk, she also managed to guzzle down some apple and pear puree too, not too much as I was freaked out at this stage! Prob 1/4 of an apple and pear.
She is a BIG girl (as you can imagine!) 98th centile for all measurements (so at least in proportion), so perhaps she just wants a lot of food to satisfy her?

what time do you do milk/food? I always gave milk first and then food an hour or so later. The last meal was around 5pm and the last milk feed was around 7pm (with no food afterwards). Maybe if you split milk and food (especially in the evening) then you wont be so worried about her being sick in the night.

I would say give her some food about an hour before bedtime, then just give her a bottle when you put her down for the night.

I suppose babies cluster feed later in the day, don't see why its so different for solids.

Thanks for coming back so quickly, i'm still running up & down the stairs every couple of minutes, despite having the baby monitor set to the most sensitive setting!
She has her bottle at 6pm & then food straight after. I think I'll start giving her food at 5.30pm & then a bottle at 7pm. The only issue with this is that I will then worry that she won't drink her bedtime bottle & not be getting enough milk/protein.
Oh boy, these little critters are sooo stressful! Off upstairs again!
