Infant feeding

Aptamil First v Follow-on milk

DS is 10 mo. Has happily had Aptamil First from the early days. Should I now move him onto Follow on milk?

I've compared the list of ingredients on the cartons and not clear why they are more or less the same things but in very slightly different proportions.

I'm also thinking that when he's 1 yo, he'll drink regular cows milk as it is a lot cheaper and the NHS say it's OK to do that then.

So for the next 2 or 3 months, will it make that much difference to change to Follow on?

Has anyone had an experience where their child didn't take to Follow on milk?

I didnt bother with either of mine. DS1 was formula fed, and got upset by any change in milk, so I didn't risk it. DS2 was mix fed from 5 months and, again, couldn't see any reason to change.

Follow on milk is not needed at all. Carry on with the first milk and then change to full fat cows milk age one.

A friend told me her son slept better after the change - and that was enough reason for me to switch! Didn't seem to work for dd tho...

With my nutrition hat on I would tell you that the differences are small (slightly more sugar, less fat, more iron, some whey protein switched to casein) but there is no need to switch, very small differences
