Infant feeding

Is this 12 m.o. faffing about or supply?

DS is at nursery M,T,Th, F and I'm back at work. He's always fed mostly all night at night and I'm happy for that to continue. At night he's started frantically swapping from boob to boob when feeding (suck, swap, suck, swap). I think this is because he's finished his proper feed and is tired and teething. If I stop him there are a few tears then he generally goes to sleep.

What worries me slightly is that he's maybe doing that to get more supply going after being apart for the day (but he did it last night after a weekend of feeding whenever he wanted) and I'm stopping him. Haven't noticed any change in supply - I've always had an abundance.

So... allow the swapping or stop him? Should I express at work? - I haven't found much need to comfort wise and he doesn't drink bm from a cup. And don't get me started on the nipple pinching.

My DD is nearly 13 months and is at nursery 3 days a week. She also feeds a lot at night. Can't help you with the swapping thing though, my DD never does that. How does that work anyway? Don't you hold him at one boob? (I co-sleep with DD and feed laying down and I swap boobs for each time she wakes up and feeds).

I also found that my boobs aren't uncomfortable during the day without feeding, I guess as DD has been feeding all night and by morning they are pretty well empty!

Ah, choceyes my dangly breats are now outed Blush.

We co-sleep and I lay on my side so both boobs are accessible... he grabs which ever one he wants and wedges it in. If I roll further over I can hide one underneath me, but he's recently got wise to that.

When I feed laying down at night (on my side too) I pull down/up my top only on one side, so only one boob is exposed. Perhaps you could try that so that both boobs aren't acessible to him?

Covering one up inflames him even more! Perhaps I should just persist and start working on his b.f. manners.

haha! My DD only ever has had one boob at each feed, so it was never an issue.

I get you on the nipple pinching though. My DD does that when she is not that interested in BF but wants to play anyway.
