Support / pillow for an older BFing baby?

DS has just turned 1, and I'm finding him a bit heavy to support when he's BFing. Does anyone have any recommendations for a support / pillow for an older BFing baby?

I used this when he was littler, and found it quite useful. But it doesn't seem quite high enough to support my arm (which is supporting his head) properly.

I also wondered about this, but it would also support and raise his bum, which I think is already at ~ the right height on my lap.

I either BF on a sofa (with non-useful too high arms) in my living room, or on a futon sofa in DS's room (or in bed in my bedroom, which is my favourite). I've considered piling 2 pillows on each side of me, or a small-ish bean bag on each side of me Grin...

Why not just use some cushions? Or can your DS sit up on his own when he's downstairs and then lie down next to you when you're on the bed? My DS is 8 months and he's pretty happy to sit up on my lap, hold onto my arm and help himself :)

I used the JoJo U shaped
beanbag type one until mine was about 14months. he was only having 2 feeds at that point so just had it on the bad and found it was great back support for me as well.

I used the widgey that you're considering with my son until he was 2 and 2 months. His legs would hang off the end but he liked to rub his toes up my back - actually nicer than it sounds! I also used it with my daughter until she was 1 so it's done very good service. My friends borrow it when they're visiting and I'm hoping to need it again myself in the future!

Thanks for all of the replies.

I think I'll get a couple of cushions (DH doesn't believe in cushions Confused), and see how that goes.

I don't usually notice how heavy DS is when I'm downstairs during the day, but I definitely do if I'm upstairs at 3am Grin!

Can you not feed lying down - especially at 3am!!

the widgey is really small IRL

i would say in the night time just feed lying down. practise and it becomes easier, i know it can be tricky to start with,

maybe you need a nice new bf chair with lower arms?

rushofbloodtothehead and thisisyesterday, I'd prefer to feed DS lying down, but he sleeps in a cot in his own room now. So, if he wakes up and won't settle w/o BFing, I sit on a sofa futon in his room.

I'd love a new BF chair Smile, but there's not really enough room!
