Infant feeding

15 week old grazing (FF)

Hi
My 15 week old is still feeding every 2 hours as she really seems to struggle eating more than 2-3 ounces in one go. I've tried the usual - undressing her, changing her nappy, tickling her feet, but nothing seems to make her eat any more.

Has anyone got any hints or tips to make her eat more? Am wondering whether I should let her cry it out a bit just to try and make her more hungrier and hopefully eat more or should I just stick with it and hope things develop on their own.
Thanks

Hi - I was FF at that age too. I aimed to feed every 3 hours and that meant DS took in a decent amount. I remember him wanting the bottle early and going through something similar. I make him wait a bit. But try to stretch out the schedule gradually. Perhaps try to stretch her out to 2.15 mins for a day or 2, then 2.30 mins for a day or 2 until she's closer to 3 hours?

We were feeding every 3 hours for a long time. Quite possibly until weaning. My memory isn't so great. That's the lack of sleep...another story!

Eating 2-3 ounces every 2-ish hours sounds perfect. If she wants to eat more she would so by giving her what she needs when she needs it, you are reponding to her needs rather than over-riding them.

Don't forget babies only have timy tummies (about the size of their fist) so to over-feed them can lead to over-stretching their stomachs making them want to eat more than they actually require.

There is some good info on bottle feeding here.
