Pea sized lump in breast

After a couple of bouts of mastitis I know have found a hard pea sized lump in my boob. I have been to the GP who has given me anti biotics and told me to come back in a week if it's not gone. I suppose I am just wanting reassurance that it's not something more sinister - and to see if anyone else has experienced this when breastfeeding. I'm really quite petrified.

Yes, I was petrified too. Mine turned out to be a cyst that disappeared of it's own accord after two or three weeks.

No point telling you not to worry because i know you will any way but the doc is on the case and they won't mess around if it requires further investigation!

Thanks for the reply Doodlez. I'm more concerned in that it doesn't hurt! It's not even sore. Was yours?

I had this not long ago, it was initially a bit tender & the skin above the lump was red so I was worried about mastitis, it turned out to be a blocked milk duct & after 2 courses of different antiobiotics (Penicillin based then Erithymocin(sp?)) it disappeared. I was advised to keep feeding DS from that side as normal & apply heat to help the duct unblock. Hope this helps!

Thanks wii. My husband thinks I'm being ludicrous to think it anything other than breastfeeding related with me being in my late 20s but you still worry don't you? This is coming from a man who thought he had anal cancer after discovering a spot on his bum...

Yes, its scary. Mine ended up (after a rather frightening couple of trips to the breast clinic, and ultrasound and a biopsy) to be something called a lactational adenoma. Apparently bf hormones can cause changes and is quite common.

I was Hmm when they told me it would go once I stopped bf,but lo and behold it did.

Yep! Its gone Grin

So don't worry.
