BF every 1.5 - 2 hourly - when can I pump??

I need to build up a stash of milk for DS in the freezer. He won't take formlua but will take EBM in a bottle. He starts nursery soon and I need to be able to give them enough EBM to give him.

He's feeding every 1.5 - 2 hourly at the moment from 1am to 7pm. when on earth do I express??

how old is he? can you express on one side while you feed from the other (for some feeds)?

he's 5 months old and takes both sides at each feed.

Express from one side whilst he's feeding on the other side or before a feed, then offer him the pumped side as his second side. He'll get more out than a pump can.

Your supply will adjust to accomodate the pumping as well, so keep at it, but be aware that if you pump alot, you could get engorged if you suddenly stop needing so much milk.

Thanks J, that's really helpful. Thanks both of you!
