Infant feeding

14 week old EBF - how many feeds?

Hi, just wondering if my little girl is getting enough feeds during daylight hours. She usually feeds every 3 hours, so gets 5-6 feeds in before bedtime, and each feed lasts for 10-20 minutes (she's a two boob girl if that is important). The reason I'm asking is because since she was 11 weeks old she's stopped sleeping so well at night and will now wake for 2-3 feeds - again it's 3 hourly. I am loathe to try and top her up in the day as the one time I have tried she vomited it all back up (a lot of it anyway) but the sleepless nights are starting to take their toll on me now... Any suggestions?

Can you have her in your bed to reduce night time disturbance?

By top her up do you mean give a bottle or just offer breastfeeds more often?

I have tried co-sleeping but I don't tend to get into deep sleep so don't feel terribly rested, I do bring her in with me from 4-5am onwards though. She tends to roll onto her front when in my bed so I think I'm too worried to sleep properly!

By top up I mean trying to feed her every 2 or 2.5 hours instead of every 3 so she'd be getting the majority of her feeds during the day. I'm not sure if it works like that though even if I could encourage her daytime appetite

I have heard that babies wake up more often in the night when they have gone through a developmental spurt, ie learnt something new like rolling over, discovered their feet ect.
Just a thought. My DD went from one feed a night back to two for a while at a little bit later than 14 weeks and is now back to one again.
