Feeding and constipation

DD 7 months has feeds at 5am, 8am, 11am, 3pm and 6pm. She also has a bit of food three times a day. She only sips water as is learning with a cup. Is that enough fluids? She goes bright red and makes straining noises when going to the loo. Tried some prunes which helped temporarily but now she is the same again :( The food I am giving her is all veg and fruit. Can't understand it!

Maybe to much food. It does take a while for there system's to ajust. I think the WHO say's two meals a day at 7months.

Beleive it or not two much fibber in babies/young children is not good. I don't think your supposed to give brown bread untill at lest 2years if I remeber correctly.

I agree it takes a while for their digestive systems to settle down - my ds was an ethusiastic eater and definitely on 3 meals by 7 months, but still suffered from a bit of constipation.

I added a bit of fruit juice to his water to get him to drink more, prunes, oranges etc and cut back on the bananas as they are very constipating.
