10 months- getting enough milk?

My dd is coming up to ten months old.

She has always been ebf, and has always fed well. However she has never been a particularly "booby baby", has never seemed to be demanding milk, doesn't claw at my chest or use milk for comfort or feed to sleep (well she feeds until sleepy in the evening but not to sleep, and not for naps). So I've always had to lead the way in terms of when and how often she feeds- the concept of demand feeding hasn't really applied for us. This has worked fine and she's always been 50th percentile with a normal weight gain.

Up until recently she was having four feeds a day- morning, mid-morning, mid-afternoon and bedtime. On advice of health visitors- and my own instincts, actually- I have now dropped all the feeds apart from morning and evening. She has a snack and water instead for the others. This doesn't seem to have bothered her, although some afternoons she has, uncharacteristically, indicated that she wants milk, so I've fed her.

But for some reason I'm now worried she is not getting enough milk. I read somewhere that she should still be having four milk feeds a day and am now questioning my decision. She eats plenty for mealtimes and snacks, but should I reintroduce a breastfeed?

How is your DD? Is she lively, well and developing? If she is happy and healthy and continuing to thrive you have probably made the right decision. I would feed her if she asks for it/you feel she needs it and make sure she is having a balanced diet. Having her weighed may reassure you that she is fine.

Both my lo's dropped to 2 feeds by 10 1/2 months. You can make up the rest of her intake through her food e.g. milk in cereal, yoghurt, cheese, etc
