Have you made friends through blogging?

For some time now I have been toying with the idea of starting a blog. A friend of a distant friend did this about 3 years ago and has made some close friendships in the process.

I'm asking because basically I only really have 1 close friend whom I moved away from last year and now rarely get to see. I live with my boyfriend who has lots of close mates but long for my own circle. I miss girly dates and having a friend to do things with.

I'd like to create a blog as a digital diary for myself as much as anything else and I enjoy being creative.

So, have many of you made friendships through blogging? I am nearly 34 and have no children though we are currently TTC.

If you're looking for your own circle of friends, blogging is wrong way to do it. I mean, it's nothing wrong with blogging and you might get some friends this way, but it's a long shot and those friends might leave far-far away. What you need is find all the local groups (for different interests) and join those you like. Maybe it's better to do it 1-2 a time, not all of it together :). You do i t for a test and even if you don't like it, people over there will recommend you something else.

Hi IfeelFloopy

I think Zanuda has made a good point, however you said you're creative and would like to write an online diary so I say go for it and set up a blog for those reasons alone. I'm in a similar situation to you and blogging has only enriched my life, especially when I'm feeling lonely.

When it comes to making friends in 'real life' though Zanuda is right and local groups are probably the way to go. I need to take some of this advice! xx
