Including photos of kids on blog?

What are people's opinions about including photos of your kids on your blog? I wouldn't mind it, but my husband thinks it's wrong to put pictures of them onto the internet before they can consent to it.
My new blog (latebloomingleo.wordpress.com) has some knitted stuff in it and I'd love to show pictures of my toddler wearing it. If she ever deigns to wear anything I make.

You have nice blog!
I would say no or at least, no pictures where they are clearly identifiable.
It is their image and as parents, I feel that we do not have the right to distribute their image forever simply because they can't say no (what goes on the net, stays on the net ... and could end up anywhere)

I agree with your husband. I was fiercely private about my kids' pictures. Now they are young adults on Facebook, they do what they like but I still warn them about the unforeseen consequences of posting their pictures...

PS - your toddler will love wearing your designs I am sure :)

Good luck!

Aww, lovely blog!
I do have pictures of my child on my blog, but not that many and I don't use her name on there. I'm not as worried about her consent - I've decided that once she is older, if she doesn't want a photo taken or doesn't want it on the blog I would remove it and I try not to post anything she might find embarrassing! I do worry about her being identifiable though interestingly my normally security conscious DH thinks I am a bit paranoid and not to worry.

If she's a toddler, maybe put her in a dressing up mask? Or shots only from behind?

I agree with your DH. My DC are too young to make that decision yet, so no photos online.

Thanks for the replies. I think I agree. I'd liked seeing other people's kids on their craft blogs so had started to soften, but I want to respect my dd and ds's privacy. Maybe shots from behind could work...

I wouldn't be bothered by it, but many people are.

I think main problem here is not the consent but that there are some weirdos and bullies in the world. And maybe it's only 0.00001% but you don't want this 0.00001% to cross paths with your family. If you post any child photo, better to do it such a way it would not be any way to figure out where the child lives and who that is. But is you want to post any kind of photos, try to make your blog such a way it would be no identifiable info about your location and personal data.
