I’m 8 weeks and the MW told me to start taking 75mg of Aspirin because of my high BMI - i’ve Picked up a pack today & it says not to take if pregnant Confused

I've been taking low dose aspiring throughout my pregnancy and I took it all through my last one too, due to issues with blood flow to my placenta. No further issues, so I think it's amazing stuff! It's safe to take if you've been prescribed it by a doctor or midwife - just make sure you always buy the 75mg version.

Yep, I also was told to take it due to high risk pre eclampsia (high bmi and strong family history) now at 38 weeks, no pre eclampsia and all fine!!

I took aspirin due to kidney problems. Baby born healthy and at term. Definitely take it if advised! Good luck with your pregnancy!

No medication will advertise as 100% safe in pregnancy - It's not ethical to have clinical trials to test them.

Aspirin is given routinely for a number of reasons so I wouldn't worry. If your concerned speak to your midwife though who I am sure will be able to give you some reassurance of the benefits over the known risk.

My ob/gyn told me that she might put me on it from 10 weeks onwards depending on my blood pressure and weight gain.

Hi I've been told to take aspirin but the midwife couldn't officially tell me to take it because I'm asthmatic and I know at some point the advice was to avoid aspirin if you are asthmatic.

Has anyone taken it who has asthma? xx

I have been prescribed low dose aspirin due to recurrent MCs. I was told to take it (along with progesterone) as soon as I find out I'm pregnant.

I'm really hoping this will prevent losing my baby. I'm only 4+5 weeks and crapping myself Sad

Best of luck with your pregnancies all of you Flowers

I'm taking it due to previous small baby and I'm asthmatic. I think the warning with asthma is the same for aspirin and ibuprofen, they can cause asthma to worsen in some people but most are fine so I was just told to keep an eye on it and go back if any problems.

Me too @frazzlerock! I take my aspirin continuously though, rather than when I get a positive. About 4 +2 or +3 now and although I was almost certain I was starting the m/c cycle again on Tuesday, it's looking good so far! I have never been more on edge or stressed though!

Oodles of luck @Laburna I keep deliberating over starting a 'due in July' thread but I can't help thinking it is tempting fate

You too @frazzlerock! I keep looking to see if one has been started, but way too unsure of it all to join! Consultant wants an early scan if I stay +ve so maybe after that 🤣😂

www.nice.org.uk/guidance/cg107/chapter/guidance#antiplatelet-agents
Look at 1.1.2

This is the NICE Guideline that is used in uk for best care practice. With a high BMI the recommendation is aspirin 75mg daily.
Hope that helps you xxx

I’m on 150mg after recurrent miscarriages, prescribed by my consultant. No diagnosed issues but they think it might have been placenta issues in the past. 28 weeks now and all going okay so it’s one of the things that seems to be helping.

I've been on 75mg low dose once a day due to reoccurring misscarriages. I'm about 7 weeks and have to continue on it until 20 weeks I think.

@frazzlerock I'm also on progesterone I'm hoping it'll work. Had a scan at 6+3 and a heartbeat was seen so just keeping fingers crossed. This is the furthest I've got in 6 years...

@UnicornDust17 best of luck to you.
We lost our little one 3 weeks ago at 9 weeks 😢
Progesterone and aspirin failed to work for me.

I’m 41 years old and on my third baby. My consultant when I met him at 15 weeks or so told me to take aspirin each night. I can’t remember why. I don’t have a high BMI. I didn’t take it in previous pregnancies . I thought it was due to my age? I’ve been taking it.

So so sorry to hear that @Frazzlerock Sad

A lot of shop bought aspirin is too high a dose so be careful. You should take 75mg and no more unless advised by doc/ midwife
