Megan Freya arrived on the 12th May weighing 6lb 10 1/2 oz. Shocked me completely by beng a week early - I was sure she would be late! Have to go as she is waking up and I'm in he library, but will post full gory details of long drawn out and difficult labour to those wo are interested later. We are both doing really well, though - she's wonderful. Congratulations to everyone else on he due in May thread who's had their babies, and I hope th rest of you have them soon.

Thanks for all the congratulations, Megan and me are doing well. She's still little (takes after me), but growing well and gave me her first smile yesterday - wonderful . Some of you asked for the gory details, so here they are. Sorry its a long post but it was a long labour. Had a show Friday am (6th May) and saw Dr for routine appointment, BP was up so said midwife would call following day. contractions started that night 7-8 mins apart, then slowed, checked by midwife, BP ok, but sill early stages. Contractions carried on that night and next day, 4-40mins apart. Sunday night they became regularly 4mins apart so went in, but still early stages, so came home with TENS. Contractions carried on varying 3-40mins apart, then fore waters went monday night, went in tuesday but still early stages so came home again. Contractions then got closer and stronger Tuesday night so I went in again as I was having difficulty coping. Still early stages so they gave me pethedine to help cope as I was very tense and shaky (not surprising after 5 nights of contractions!), and said they'd put me on a drip to speed it up at 9am, eventually had drip at 4pm, then they broke my fore waters to speed things up, then the contractions were agony, tried gas and air and was immediately sick, so opted for epidural. by 10pm was finally fully dilated, and pushed for 2.5 hours, megan was born at 00.42 Thursday after an episiotomy as she was stuck because she had her hand up. Her poor head was a bit squashed and bruised after all the pushing, but she's great now.
