Hannah Stevie Rose was born on her due date Tuesday 5 May, weighing in at 8lb 12oz. I was determined that she would make an early appearance like her brother did, and after her due date arrived I had already convinced myself that I would be late, losing the home water birth I had planned.

My husband left for work and 5 minutes later I felt a twinge or two. I decided to put hubbie and designated sitter on standby just in case it materialised to be more. Half an hour later decided that labour had started and called everyone I needed. However, pains were quite intense and after calling labour ward, they convinced me to pop in just to be checked. Hospital was only 5 mins away so thought I would just get checked out. I arrived after a couple of quite intense contractions to be told by the midwife that I was actually ready to push!!! 20 minutes later Hannah was born. Only gas and air for pain relief and I was so proud. We had to stay in for a night as I had meconium in my waters and she opened her bowels just as she was born, but all was good and wouldn't change a thing. Labour from start to finish was 3.5 hours - a labour I had only ever heard about and was great but painful!! Her brother adores her as do we all and now at 15 weeks she weighs in at 15lb 13ozs and is a happy, chubby little girl.

Am gutted never got to use birthing pool but with such a quick labour I wouldn't have been able to use it anyway! So if you're looking for a birthing pool watch out for my thread of a pool for sale!!
