Farfaraway has another little girl

DD3 arrived by elective c-section last Monday 23rd July at 10:09am.

As some know from my questions for advice we knew she had a heart problem and would be transfered directly from delivery to the cardiac ward. Managed to get up later the same day and get over to see her. She is beautiful, calm and tranquil.

Left hospital yesterday and had to leave her behind which is the hardest and worst thing I have ever done. Surgery scheduled for tomorrow morning so we have very mixed emotions here.

Many thanks to all who gave heart defect and breastfeeding/expressing advice by the way. Although she could not feed for the first two days I did express immediately and she was then she was fed by a tube, then a syringe and she finally learned to latch on on yesterday. So she is clever too!! Despite my reservations expressing was a success and seem to have tons of milk.

Say a prayer for my little girl tomorrow.

Many congratulations on your DD3's arrival. I know how difficult it is to leave a child behind in hospital after delivery... Good luck tomorrow with the op. I'll be thinking of you.

FFA, I never post on these threads because I've not been chatting to the mums during pregnancy but your story touched me.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby daughter and your successful BFing. I will say a prayer for her tonight and hold her in my thoughts tomorrow.
Take care.

Many thanks for all your congratulations.

Will try to keep it short - we arrived at the hospital for 7am this morning as Tess was going down at 8:30. Then we were just waiting, waiting until we got news at 3:30pm. After 6 hours of open heart sugery Tess was out and back in intensive care. She is stable but the operation did not go as well as we hoped. Her heart did not restart and she is now has a machine that is pumping it for her and she still has an open thorax (they didn't close her up). Now they try to ease her heart to start gradually over the next few days. We should be allowed to see her tomorrow afternoon. It has been an awful day.
Sorry to be so morbid as birth announcements should be a happy affair but sometimes they are sad and worrying too.

FFA, have never 'spoken' to you before but wanted you to know that you really are in my thoughts. What a dreadful time for you. I cannot begin to imagine how you must be feeling.

Roll on tomorrow afternoon, when you can see your little fighter again.

Farfaraway - your day was full of worries. I hope little Tess has a good night and recovers some more before you see her tomorrow afternoon. It's heartbreaking to see your baby swamped by tubes and monitors but the time will come when they'll be taken away one by one as she gets better and better. Best wishes to you all.

CTA - you sound like have personal exp of a sick new baby and I am grateful for your positive perspective. Have just phoned hospital again and she is still stable and no change which is good news.

FFA - i don't usually post on these threads but having read yours I couldn't not. Many congratulations on Tess's arrival but at her heart problem. I will hold you all in my thoughts and pray for a speedy recovery. She does sound like a fighter and I am sure she will come through this just fine.

farfaraway, my ds3 was not ill but was prem and even though he was well, it was still heartbreaking to leave him at the hospital and the whole NICU experience was overwhelming. Can't imagine how it must be if babs is ill as well. You are in my thoughts. Your LO sounds like a tough little lady and I'm sure will get through this!

Just to say DD3 is doing really well. Heart now beating with medication and she has been closed up. Today she came of the ventilator and is breathing alone too and took 30ml of Mummy Milk. Hurrah. Docs say she is having a favourable evolution. We are all a lot happier and positive here now. Shanks..thanks for your thoughts and kind words. Will have to remmeber to name change on some threads now..

That's great news, FFA. Such a quick improvement, although it won't have seemed fast enough to you. When is she coming home? Very pleased for you.
