Scared to tell family members

This is probably going to sound silly, but has anyone got any ideas on how to tell parents/ close family members.

I've been thinking of ways to tell my mum for a couple of weeks but I can't find the right way to tell her. I get conversation in my head but I can't bring myself to actually saying it.
I've even thought about texting/ writing her a message but I don't think she will handle it well.

It's not that I don't get along with her/other family members but I don't know they will react. We've had ups and downs and I just really don't know what to do. I clearly can't hide this from people forever.

I have a couple of close friends but I don't feel it would be right for me to tell them before family, or for me to get them to tell family.

I just feel like I'm in a really difficult position. Any ideas/ help would be great x

How far along are you? And why won't your mum / family be happy to hear it?

If you're still early days you've got a while before you start showing so you don't have to rush into telling people if you don't want to.
I didn't tell anyone with dc1 until about 20 weeks as I couldn't hide it any longer (I wasn't trying to hide it but had had previous miscarriages and didn't want the pressure of everyone knowing)
At that point people just asked me if I was and I said yes, would that be an option?

How about writing something in a card for Mother's Day from grandchild to be? And if you have a scan picture you could pop that in. It relieves the pressure a bit because all you have to do at the time is hand over the card, you won't get stuck for words.

I've recently told my parents I'm expecting. I'm 20 and in the middle of my degree so trust me it was not easy at all!
My mums initial thought was for me to get rid, but now she has come around to the idea.
I struggle to open up to my dad due to past issues so I wrote him a letter telling him. He opened and read the letter when I wasn't there and he will have a few days to think about it all and let it sink in. He read it this evening so will see how it goes! Good luck and congratulations!
