That's it really.

She just died. Straightforward birth, home same day - seemed to be thriving.

My heart is broken for them and I feel so useless.

I'm so sorry. Sad

Are they near to you? If so don't be afraid to go and cry with them. All we can do in this heartbreak is stand with the bereaved. We can't fix it. we can't take away the pain but we can stand with them and say we're sorry.

I agree you can try to be there for them. Take milk, bread, teabags etc & just stick them in the fridge/cupboard.

How are you doing?
you must feel wretched. Did you get to meet her before she died?

My heart goes out to you all, so very Sad

Poor family. Please, please add a star to their tree and include the baby on their Christmas card, and anything else you can think of, to help your nephew and his family feel their DD is still "with" them, and with everyone else, too. Not gone.

Meanwhile, any practical help you can offer will help them save their energy, as they are going to be so exhausted with the grieving.

And make sure to take care of yourself, too. You are also grieving. Sad

Thanks all.

Plupervet - I have been thinking about Christmas card, thought maybe I shouldn't send them one? I love the star to their tree idea, thanks.

They have an almost 2 yr old ds, who is, I think, their salvation right now.

My poor nephew has got to go tomorrow to register her birth and her death Sad

oh Sad

How awful for everybody

I agree with plupervert, send them a Christmas card with her name on - this should have been her first Christmas with them & for them it still is

Oh that is so terribly sad Sad

Maybe you could buy them a little pretty tree decoration with her name on?
