Can anyone recommend a good cranial osteopath in west midlands area

I have been reading up about cranial osteopathy and I think my dd 6mths might benefit from it. She only has small sleeps often as little as 10 mins in the daytime and always wakes up screaming. Her normal cry could shatter glass. It doesn't matter what she needs her cry is always distressing. She had a dramatic ventouse delivery. What do you think?

I would say yes I think this would help. I didn't have to have assited delivery and me and DS went to see a cranial osteopath at 6 weeks and he needed a bit of help and so did I. I have had cranial oseopath for years and years and for me it has always helped.

Did a google search and this might help?

The Children's Clinic, The British School Of Osteopathy. London SW1. 0207 930 9254

They might be able to recommend a BSO registered practioner who specialises in children in your area?

Alternatively British Osteopathic Association might be able to help?

Good luck, take care

How much do they cost and how long do you have to see one for?

For me the first visit was a hour to get history etc and then half hour visits after wards, DS only saw her once and was treated for about 15 mins, the session cost £25 for him I think. The number of visits will depend on what they think they can do to help, and how your DD reacts to the treatment - if things are able to be freed up quite easily and quickly it might just be the one vist.

I might have missed the boat but I saw one near Droitwich near Bromsgrove - where I live. She was great did me and my son in just a few sessions. Was £50 per go for both of us and £30 with me on my own. Let me know if you are interested in name and address.

I had forceps delivery as he had the cord round his neck - quite traumatic for him I think. I felt awful for ages after - never feeling quite right and feeling like an old woman. Apparently my pelvis was out of alignment due to the pressures during birth. I feel great now - can bend over easily (couldn't before) and feel a lot 'fitter'. DS is now almost sleeping through (6 months old).

I was recommended seeing a CO on Mumsnet - search for cranial osteopath on the archived messages you will realise how many mums have done it and think it was brilliant.

Forgot to say - my sessions were 45 minutes each and was soooo relaxing! Cannot recommend it highly enough!

Thats 45 mins for me and then 45 mins for DS. - You do need someone to go with you to look after the baby whilst you are being done otherwise you will not benefit - I was sorted in 4 sessions - DS in 3.

I go to a chiropracter at the Bham Ch Centre and he does do chiro on babies which does have benefits. That might be worth a try. It is in Moseley near the cricket ground

There is a really good one in Solihull. I've completely forgotten his name, but there can't be too many! He has been recommended to me by two different people so he must be ok.
