Hi
I'm new to mumsnet and am finding these forums very useful with lots of interesting advice.
I have a 3.1 year old son and most of the time he is a happy lovely wee boy, infact most of the time. However sometimes he says some really odd things. He often wants people to go away and will tell me he wants all the children at this nursery and the teachers and his friends to go away in a big plane or go into a big hole...then he says he doesn't want any friends. I find it quite sad that his mind is working like that but is it just completely normal....he can be quite shy or rather unsure of himself and takes a while to warm to other children. He was a very confident baby and toddler but in the last year this all changed as he became more aware of his environment. Myself and DH give him all the love in the world and like I said is mostly happy however I'm slightly worried that he wants to send everyone/break everyone/get rid of everyone.....is it just his imagination developing? Thanks

my DD is 3, and says odd things like this sometimes, I think it is just them becoming aware of their surroundings and the people around them, maybe it's his way of saying he wants a bit of space , like your DS my DD is a very happy little girl, and friendly usually, I wouldn't worry. hth

Thanks, you are probably right...he can just be quite serious sometimes and not as lighthearted as I would wish - but thats not up to me I guess........cheers
