nearly 3yr old boy very emotional

DS1 is 3 in Dec and usually very happy easy going type of boy into the usual boyish things. However over the past couple of weeks he has become so clingy to me and very emotional over really small things.
It is even worse this week now that his sister(nearly 6) has gone back to school.
Is this a phase for boys?
I have thought about putting him into a local nursery after half term but not sure what to do now but maybe a nursery session is what he needs.

Hi Carameli, sorry there are no replies to your post...

I can't add much, just to let you know that my DS is also going to turn 3 in Dec, and has recently turned from a happy, chirpy little boy (unless hungry or tired, but always easily rectifiable) to a demon. No other word for it.

He does go to nursery, three mornings a week, where he is an angel, doesn't have any toilet accidents, helps out doing 'staff' jobs etc.

He comes home, throws stuff, screams, whinges, and generally is naughty and a handful . I wish I knew how to change it!

At the moment he's wrapping sellotape all round my dining room chair legs which is fine by me - picking my battles at the moment!

He used to be full time but has been part time for about 2.5 months now, he has a new baby due in about 4 weeks time and we're currently in the process of decorating a new bedroom for him so I'm hoping that things will settle down once the baby is actually here...

...alternatively, I'm hoping that this is 'just a phase' and that 'this too shall pass' - otherwise having DC No2 will turn out to be the biggest mistake I've ever made...

Nursery may help, apart from giving you a break, it may also help by giving him some mental / social stimulation that will 'stretch' him a bit. DS loves his nursery, but he's always gone to one (well, since 9 months) so he's kind of used to it!

LOL at my 'he has a new baby due', I got interrupted by DS, I meant to type 'he has a new baby brother or sister due'!

hi thanks for your reassurance I am not the only one. Good luck with the next few weeks. I hope it all goes well for you. I have a 4mnth old ds here as well, ds1 loves him to bits most of the time which is one major blessing.

how are your dining room chair legs?
