DS has really high arches and I am a bit worried about his feet.

DS, who is 14 months, started walking about four weeks ago. I know that if he is walking there can't be anything that bad wrong with his feet but he walks with his toes curled under him a lot of the time and I can't get many styles of shoes onto his feet except those that undo with velcro all the way along the top and these are expanded almost to the limit.
I also can't get any wellies or boots onto him unless they are three sizes too big.
Has anyone else experienced this?
The main reason I am worried is that my brother has bipedal talipes (sp?) i.e. club foot on both feet and I am worried that DS might have a minor foot deformity. At the moment I am inclined to wait and see for a few weeks before going to see the doctor but wondered if anyone out there has had a similar experience that turned out to need medical intervention to correct? If so, I would love to hear from you. TIA.

Perfecly normal to curl their toes when first walking, and esp if they have high arches.

My DS has very high arches, and I buy Ricosta boots which are a great fit and as they lace up are very adjustable. Try an indepedant shoe shop, and they'll have much more to offer

Thanks. I have got myself into a tizz about this as DS is not fitting into any of the old shoes / slippers/ wellies that DD was wearing at a similar age.

My ds has very high arches and is the same ... he can only wear a very limited number of styles that open up fully. I wouldn't worry too much until he is a little order abot the toe curling but as cmotdibbler says independent shoe shops are better than those just selling clarks. Ds seems to do better in startrite or ecco shoes.

What size is he ? I have DS's last winters boots sat around which might fit - they are a European 20 I think

He's a size 23. Could it just be that he is baby shaped in shoes that are more or less designed for the toddler foot IYSWIM?

I think I'm just worried. My brother's problem was apparent from the moment he was born but I don't want to ignore something that might be a problem even though I am sure it isn't problem but I am worried it is.
