I have noticed DD's behaviour is getting more challenging at times now she is nearing three. I am ortunate I guess as I only have to deal with her, and not another one at the same time. I agree - keep busy, and try and get out of the house lots! Mind, weather is rubbish here at the moment so.

Sending DD to ursery tomorrow and Wednesday for sa while, even though I am on holiday. Have some work today and I know she loves going so much anyway. Gives me a tiny break too

Good luck; hope today feels better for you all.

does telling you "it's only a phase" help? or do you think you need to be proactive?

The only advice i can think of (which I'm sure you know already) is to ignore the bad behaviour and give the other children lots of attention.

mind you, I'm not sure that that's an easy option...

Does it get worse when they get to three?

Have had a nightmare couple of days with DD, 2.5. She is usually a really lovely child, has her moments but luckily they are few and far between. Today she has pulled my hair so hard I cried, thrown just about every remote control at me, screamed soooo much and sooo loud she made DS (4.5 mths) cry about 10 times, tried to bite me. . . . . I could only stand so much and I hate to say this (esp. on mn - I know what a bollocking I will get for this), but I have hit her so many times today I have lost count. I have only ever smacked her once before today but its like some other child is in my house over the last couple of days.

She has been poorly, and she is getting to the end of it now so we haven't been out for nearly a week (ecxcept to see the Tweenies on sat) and we are usually out every day. But that shouldn't be any excuse.

I just hope she isn't going to be like this much longer.

(sorry Yorkiegirl for hijaking, needed a rant)

I think we are brewing up to the punching stage but at the moment my DD1 (aged 3) has perfected the "why mummy, why mummy....." method of mental torture, rather than physical abuse. Even when I answer her in understandable terms, she still goes on. Then, I scream "cause mummy says so". That said, I seem to spend the whole of my time screaming, please get your coat on, get in the car, get out of the car, get inside..... The only thing that sometimes (but rarely) works is to say things like "TinkyWinky gets straight into the car" or "Big Cook Little Cook eat all their breakfast". Any road up, today DD1 is at nursery, so only DD2 (age 7 months) to deal with and she can't speak...... thank god!

Yep, not sure who taught DD the word 'why', but when I find out, am goling to throttle them . . .

Sorry it didn't go so well Yorkiegirl. How about some form of activity where she doesn't need to interacte with others in such close confines so much? Soft play places can be ever so crowded and lots of pushing is the norm.

3 is a horrible age YG - ds is just coming out of the really horrible bit, and I can pretty well reason with him now. Could this be a reaction to your dd2 having been ill last week?

With ds, I just try and have activities stacked up, so as soon as he's tired of one thing, it's on to the next. Knackering for you, but he definitely sleeps better when he's had lots of stimulation. Can you do lots of Easter craft things? We spent the morning today buying a few bits and pieces to make cards etc, so he could choose the bits, then spent the afternoon making cards (we did chicks, with potato printing for body and head, then ELC eyes stuck on and beaks), and have also made an 'Easter Egg Box' - painted an egg box yellow, then stuck ELC pom poms on top for Easter eggs, shredded some tissue paper, put in box, made yellow pom pom for chick (that was great - took ds AGES!), stuck on ELC eyes, made beak and voila!

Hth - it is a really trying age, especially with a little one! Hope tomorrow is better.
