Bit worried about 2.5 yo being a poor walker...

My daughter started walking independently when she was 13 months and is now 2.5. However, she still cannot walk or run very far (more than 20 steps?) without falling over. She walks quite knock-kneed. No one else has noticed although people have commented on how clumsy she seems.

Is this a problem and who should I ask about it? I don't want to make her paranoid.

my 2.5 year old is hopeless, I still hold my breath whenever she runs - she ALWAYS falls over. We have started walking to school and back and this seems to be improving things slowly.

She was a late walker and had problems with her hips and ankles which slowed things a bit. She has now got a pair of sturdy leather boots which seem to help her balance.

Is she actually knock-kneed?

I've been thinking that a pair of sturdy boots might help - I will take her shoe-shopping.

I don't really know about being knock-kneed - what exactly does it mean? Her legs sort of look bent inwards at the knee when she walks or runs.

I think it is normal for kids to be knock-kneed at this age. Dd is almost four and has only just started to look like her legs know what she wants them to do when she is running! One leg went one direction and the other swung out and went the other

Mention it to your Health Visitor for peace of mind. She will hopefully say it is nothing to worry about.
