Behaviour/development

7 month old with very short attention span

Sure this is entirely normal but DS is constantly on the go. Doesn't like being still at all so really hard to read to him or do anything quiet and he lives to grab, chew and generally be involved. DH keeps saying he has ADD, only in a half joking way! Should a 7 month old be able to sit and pay attention for a few minutes? He seems to be able to focus on various things during play but generally likes to roll around and make a lot of noise!

he is 7 months ffs
By the time he is 1, his attention span will be 1 minute, 2 minutes at age 2 etc etc

absolutely utterly normal. i have two ds, 3 and 1, and only now at 3, is ds1 concentrating and sitting still while i read a book. just envy their energy.. i am destroyed in the evening while they are still raring to go.

of course it is normal

suggest your DH reads some books about babies and gets to grips with what is usual and what is not.

he is a BABY, god's sake.

your DHs expectations are way OTT

Babies vary so very much. I was always amazed to see babies sitting on picnic mats, eating, paying attention and generally being calm, whereas my ds would not sit at all. Your ds is still very young to be worrying about his attention span. As long as your ds can focus on sleeping at night, then be glad for that!
