16 month old - sudden refusal of food and teeth cleaning!!! Normal?

Hi

My LO has been a slightly fussy but generally fairly good eater. Now she does not want any of her usual favourites, she doesnt want lumps or purees, she doesn't want water half the time either!! Now she also wont have her teeth cleaned and she was always great about this.

Last week it was definitely due to teething as the back top teeth were coming through but this week she seems fine in that aspect. Is this a normal part of her development? Anyone else going through this? Any tips?

Thanks

Pip

I am going through this at the moment. DD has changed and isn't sleeping either at all.

It is a worry isn't it. I keep offering her stuff in the hope one day she will accept something. Anything!

sounds normal.
teeth/mouth may still be sore, or she thinks it might be if she eats.

Oh yes... i've spent about the past 5 months on an evening just pinning 23m old dd down on bed to brush her teeth. The final insult is when i've done as she's hysterically sobbed throughout the entire trauma, is that she takes the brush, shoves it round her mouth then says 'done, ta' and hops off bed. And i've just got the toddler tantrum eatng phase now! Dd refuses to eat practically anything, so just cutting out all snacks and not making fuss when it is a mealtime and just going along oines of if she doesn't eat anything / myuch at dinner, she'll eat something at tea... Its great, isn't it?

Yousaidit - they are so cheeky. Managed some teeth brushing tonight by letting her chew on the brush!!

Touch some wood quick pip.

I'm thinking of going to bed in the next half hour or so

I just thought to stop by and tell you that it's probably again a phase. DS refused teeth brushing completely for about 1.5 months and put up a real fight morning/evening for a while (eternity). I insisted although admittedly teeth were not very well brushed and once the molars cut through he was fine with the brush again.
