Ds turned 6 in July and turned into really hard work.
Lots of tears. Lots of shouting. But most tiring of all, lots of jealousy of his sister. And he always wants to be with her nonetheless.
Please tell me that they go though some kind of hormonal thing at this stage.
I really don't know how to make him feel a bit more relaxed. I'm sure things will improve once he makes new friends at school (just started primary, we are in Italy), but what do I do in the meantime?

with ds1, i have given up being oppositional, and every time he's causing an argument, i ask for a cuddle instead...

I think ds would love some boys to play with, he behaves superbly with little friends around (usually). So, ok for the swap .
Yes, I'm trying not to be confrontational, but don't always succeed.

Sounds like my DS age 6. It's soooo tiring. He calls me 'nasty lady' whenever I say no to him, and has said 'bloody' a few times to try and get a reaction. I try to ignore as much as I can, and reward with praise whenever he is pleasant or compliant.

I'm hoping it's a testosterone surge too, but can a surge last 6 months?

Sorry to scare you off Franca. It's not everyday. Some days he can be utterly charming, and write loving notes to me. He even tidied DD's bedroom this morning.

That probably fits with the hormonal explanation. I can be an utter cow certain days of the month.

Mimizan, mine is quite charming with me, but he has jealousy fits towards his sister, which he had never had before
