How often does your 6/7 mth old poo?

Since starting weaning 3 weeks ago DD2 has started pooing at least 3 times a day, not runny as if her tummy is upset but 3 definite poos each day, some days more.

I can't remember DD1 doing this as it's a few years ago. She's not distressed when she goes but I just feel it's an awful lot. Maybe not, I did a search but couldn't come up with anything. She's been formula fed since 5 weeks and on aptimil which tends to make poo a bit like bf babies but she still only went once a day on milk alone, now we have 3 little solid numbers every day, apologies if you're at your lunch

Any thoughts appreciated. TIA

My ds is 9 months and has always pooed once a day. Don't think there is a 'normal' though. Sometimes he does two or three a day but then won't poo the next day. Sounds normal to me if they are not runny. All my friends babies have pooed a lot more than my ds and I was worried but I think it's fine as long as she is drinking lots and seems happy.

I don't think there is a normal either.
FWIW - my DD developed a three poos a day pattern when I weaned her at 6 months (she would poo after every meal).

We peaked at 5 a day (about 7 months) but are now back down to 2-3 a day (9 months). Felt like it was a constant nappy change. Remember my friend saying hers had done 7 one day!!

They're worse than DHs, at least I don't have to change his nappy!

Thanks all.

My son used to do one after each feed. So if I breastfed 5 times a day (can't remember how may - he's five now!) and gave him three meals he'd do 8 poos in a day!

When he was about a year and stopped breastfeeding it was 3 times a day until he was about 3. On holiday last year it was about 7 though - he wasn't ill!

Now he's five, he does 2!

Probably about twice a day - ds is 7.5 months.

DS is nearly 7 months. He has 3 meals a day, plus milk, and does a poo during each meal without fail.
He has a good apetite, and I joke that he's pooing to make room for more food

DD is just 7mo, & started solids about 4wks ago, & is now on 3meals a day - also poos during each meal most of the time (occasionally 1 big poo a day, but mostly 3 smaller ones whilst eating!). However, she hasnt quite got the knack of pushing the poo out by squeezing into her bum, & so the straining often results in food/milk coming out of her nose & mouth, which panics her hugely! Poor thing. Anyone else have this?

23-month-old does a poo every morning, usually another small one in the PM, but can be up to 3-4 per day and sometimes just 1. Think it varies quite a lot and has lots to do with how much/quality of what they eat.

Josie, I would suggest stopping the feed while she's pooing, give her a good 10-15 minutes, change on the mat next to high chair then continue on. Don't want to scare her or put her off food!

I'm glad to see this thread as was wondering the same thing. Dd2 on 3 x meals and 4 x bottles a day and seems to poo about 7,000 times a day (at least). I am sick of changing nappies! At least it sounds normal, can't remember this stage with dd1.
