10 month old waking early again...WHY?????

Can anyone help? DD2 is generally a good sleeper but had been an early riser since the clocks went forward, usually 6am. Then starting sleeping until 6.30-7am for about a month which coincided with a cold so maybe feeling really tired. Anyway we thought, result but now the last 2 mornings 6am again and this morning 4.45am!

She woke crying. DH went in to cuddle her and she fell asleep in his arms, tried to put her back in the cot - screamed blue murder. Left her for a 5 minutes to see if she would resettle but then I went in and held her and she sleep on and off on me (in between playing with my face and babbling) until 6.30. Now she will be a real grump as she's lost out on those hours this morning.

Do you think it's teeth? Or just that she's back to rising early again. 6am is just about bearable but 4.45am is not funny. Has anyone tried to leave to cry to see if they will go back to sleep?

Hi, I had this problem when ds was that age. I put black out blinds in the room and did controlled crying for a few mornings. Came to the conclusion it was the birds waking him up. Bloody dawn chorus!!!

DS2 is 10 months and is going through exactly same thing - waking at about 5ish. I'm afraid after I check he's OK I just leave him to cry, but he just carries on crying till I go into him at 6am. Don't really know what else to do, as I'm just not prepared to get up at 5am (also have 3 year old, so pretty knackered from that too!) Will be following this thread with interest to see if anyone has any useful tips...

I found the same thing with my ds who is 9 months. He used to be up at 7:30 - 8 am but now I'm lucky if it's 5:30. I have put it down to him waking because of the birds but unable to go back to sleep cos of separtaion anxiety. He will often fall back to sleep with me holding him but the seond I try and pop him back in his cot, he screams. I've just got used to it now and just make sure I get an early night! Sure it's just a phase, hopefully!

i used to go in check nappy put some bonjela in feed bit of milk and put toys in to play with

used to go back to sleep after maybe 20 mins bonjela and feed probably helped maybe teething and slight growth spurt maybe hungry when waking or thirsty sips of water might help

but also found not talking helped i never spoke to my ds through the night if he woke just did what i had to do then leave him

fus him loads when waking time he got used to the routine me not talking ,eant night time still all the fuss meant morning

DS2 is exactly the same - this morning we had a lie in til 6.15am but normally its about 5.30am. The main problem here is that he then wakes DS1 who is 4, so for a while I end up trying to get them both back off to sleep before giving in... By the way DS2 is 10 months too, what is it about this age .
