DD scratching and biting me!

DD is 18m old and had a day stay in hospital yesterday for a surgical procedure with a general anaesthetic. Today she's been tired but had some sleep though woke normal time this morning. Her behaviour tonight has been manic and she began scratching me and attacking me to bite me from around 4pm - with glee I should add!

We have put her to bed now. Anyone know if this is normal? Is she just overtired? Has she been traumatised by hospital visit and hates me now???

I feel really upset actually. Anyone suggest anything and maybe some ways of dealing with it if she does it again.

Thanks.

I have no idea if it is reaction to her GA but just say no, firmly but not shouting and put her down or walk away. She doesn't hate you.

My ds went through a stage of this about12 - 18 mths. he drew blood a few times and was delighed with himself. Its all attention seeking. We were advised to ignore but this had no impact. in the end we praised him loads for the good stuff and gave him lots of hugs and kisses whenever he was doingt he right thing. we also tried to play down the biting by treating it like any other poor behaviour (shouting, snatching, throwing toys etc) and put him 'on the naughty step' - which is the porch in our house. He grew out of it within about3 weeks with this approach.
