3 year old is always miserable/ angry

Hi i have a 3 year old who never seems happy no matter what i do. He also has a temper resulting in him screaming in my face or hitting me no matter how calm i am, how much i try to make an activity fun or being firm using naughty step and ignoring behaviour. My hubby discussed not being as strict but this does not make any difference and being strict results in him getting more worked up. He has an older bro and i feel like im not spending much time with him as i am constantly having to deal with my 3 year olds behaviour. He is so good but feel guilty. Any tips or ideas why he may be like this?

Have you tried using PACE (Daniel Hughes) it is therapeutic parenting and really helps with children who get overwhelmed and emotional dysregulated. There is. Therapeutic Parents group on Facebook which is run by NATP and gives advice and support.
