What my nearly 4 YO plays with ....

Is this normal? My DS nearly 4 doesn't play with toys. Never will he sit with lego, cars, bricks. Very rarely he will sit with me and do a puzzle or some craft but lasts all of 6 minutes.

So .... the only interest he does have is:

Plugs
Speakers
Wires / cables
Remote controls

He is obsessed with plugging things in (all safety conscious here)

He will spend hours just plugging things in I.e cable into iPad, cable into speaker, charging everything up!

The latest craze is a small TV with a DVD integrated, he just plugs it in.

He is obsessed with electrical garage doors, my Dad spent an entire afternoon in the garage just opening and closing it, DS was utterly fascinated by it and explained exactly how it works.

Is this a bit strange?

I think it's just the way their brains are wired (excuse the pun). Ds loves details and knowing how things work, he never just accepts anything, he has to see for himself how it works etc..

Hi.
It sounds like he just loves finding out how things work. Maplin sell 'build your own' kits that might be suitable for him. There are loads to choose from on their website, just search 'build your own'.

Maybe channel his desire. Search for STEM toys and see what's around. From the top of my own head, would either of these work?

Snap circuits jr

Or maybe

Gears gears gears.
