9 month old hitting

Hi folks. 9mo DS has recently decided/discovered it's hilarious to hit us in the face repeatedly. Is it worth trying to do anything about this, or is it a case of "wait and see if he grows out of it as his motor control improves"? He's too diddy for it to hurt yet, so I'm fine waiting if that's what's sensible.

I would do a gentle ah ah and just move his hands away or put down and distract with something else.
