Potty talk - can we stop it?

DS1 thinks it is very funny to use Really Rude words atm - he is 3.5. DS2 is 2 and therefore copies him faithfully.

Any clues on how themstop him calling people a poophead and a weewee? The plan so far has been reduced to waiting until they are teeenagers, and won't speak to us at all

tried ignoring them for about 2 months now

they have only extended their vocabulary of rudeness

Fridayschild, have you tried telling ds1 that he shouldn't say those things? I know I'm pretty lucky with my dc, but I've always been able to just tell them that "poophead" isn't a great thing to say so please don't say it. I've also in the past given them both the right to remind me/"tell me off" if I say anything inappropriate in front of them - this seems to be something they quite like the responsibility of!!

we have said that we don't think that's a nice thing to say and have suggested alternatives - along the lines of no, mummmy is a yummy mummy (as if!)

they make them up actually and some are quite funny. I have no special objection to being called a hedgehog. Maybe it's the lack of reaction to the hedgehog-name that gives poophead its continued attraction...
