2.5yo playing with willy a LOT!

My second son is 2.5, and this willy thing is starting to trouble me. My first son would have a cursory play when his willy drew his attention, or in the bath, but my second boy will go upstairs specifically to find a private place to play with it. If you ask where he is going, he is very clear about it: "to play with mine willy!" he will say cheerfully.

This is every day. Sometimes twice or three time a day. Now, obviously I don't want to make a big deal of it. When it is in public I tell him no, we don't do that in the playground/at the park, but... Does anyone else have experience of this? The dedication and the deliberate setting aside of time for it!?

Anybody's experience gratefully received!

I don't have a boy I'm afraid but my daughter went through a phase of playing with her genitals a lot. I think it's all normal part of development. I used to tell her that it was something for her room and not public - even though I wanted to shriek hysterically " Stop it!" At the top of my voice.... I made myself sound very nonchalant about it all. She once announced " I've got a winkie " ( meaning penis) and I eventually established she meant clitoris.... That was an extremely hard word to tell a 3 year old. At the end of the day I was bringing the sexual baggage to the conversation.... She had no qualms about discussing it at all. I guess for your DS it just feels good.

Willies are a novelty once the nappies are off and they have access thanks to pants. I teach my son about privacy and timing but don't make a big thing of it. He's nearly 5, BTW.

My ds2 is the same age and does the same thing. Ds1 never did. DS2 constantly has his hand down his shorts or will sit down playing with it, putting toy cars on it and things. I have no advice but will watch this with interest- I am hoping it is a phase and at least will learn to only do it when there are no people around.
