DS aged 11- Prom! What can he wear?!

Hi all. DS has his prom looming. He loves soft fabrics and elastic aged waists generally. He has quite a tummy and wears age 12 generous fit school trousers from BHS. He lives in shorts and pjs outside of school (sensory issues due to his ASD) Mum said a smart shirt and trousers we're be good. Not sure however if it should really be a suit. Have looked at Next M &S BHS Tesco Asda John Lewis but nothing under boys. Am thinking I need to be looking under the men's. Any suggestions at all?
Many thanks

My suggestion would be to tell your primary school that a Prom aged 11 is ridiculous and unnecessary.

Proms are for leaving secondary.

What's wrong with a cheap and cheerful disco or waterfight?

(y6 DD).

Now more helpfully. Buy something he can wear again. Nice T shirt and some fancy joggers?

Can you ask some other Mums what their boys are wearing? To get some idea? I doubt they'll all wear suits as it's expensive and most boys this age won't want to wear a suit....I should think smart trousers and a shirt is enough.

My DS is pretty much exactly the same...he lives in fabric waist jeans from Next and size S Hollister T-shirts (he is 5ft so tall enough to wear them).

He is wearing a pair of navy elastic waist shorts from Next and a short sleeve shirt from Hollister (reduced to £7 in the sale) for his prom next week (He is in Y6 as well)

My ds (slightly younger) would go in t-shirts and shorts and be comfortable.

Shirt and trousers will be absolutely fine. Those wearing suits will only have them because they have already bought them for a wedding or something.

My DS sounds similar size wise. He is around 5 foot 6 tall. He wore black Chinos from primark mens waist 34 leg 30 and a formalish short sleeved shirt from New Look (mens size small) together with a rather natty bow tie to his formal a few weeks ago.

DS2 is wearing skinny black trousers and a branded t-shirt. He wants to wear joggies 'to do knee slides' but it won't be happening! Hmm

Thank you all! I will get him to ask his mates/talk to Mum's too.

My DS is wearing shorts with an elastic waist, a nice t shirt and quite a smart but casual, soft blazer/summer jacket. It's a nice mix of smart and casual and he looks quite cool actually. He's very slight rather than rounded so elastic waists are good as they are actually small enough not to fall off him. And comfortable.
