Has anyone out there had a teenage son (18) with depression and come through it?? He's been on medication for 3 years but has decided to come off it, has been under cambs but was discharged at 17. He is refusing any other kind of help. He's stopped going to college and is not socialising at all. I feel like I'm losing him, and am so worried. Please, if anyone has been in a similar situation and has got through it, I'd really like to hear from you. I'm a single parent, he's an only child.

I can sympathise with your son. I was like that at his age to. I currently work with people with mental health problems and from personal experience the best thing I'd advise is CBT. Worked wonders for me. I had very bad anxiety or just felt numb. Instead of asking why it dealt with my thought patterns and how to change them.

Hi wishes and kisses,
Thank you, yes he's tried CBT but didn't like it, I wish he had done as I've I heard it's really good. How old are you now, if you don't mind me asking? Also at what point did you decide to get help?
