I don't think it will help. What time does he go to bed and does he have naps?

The only difference it will make is he'll be able to come out of his room and stand by your bed and scream. Into your ear. (Speaks from experience).

It's a difficult age as he's a bit too young to understand reward charts or a clock.
All I can suggest is putting him somewhere safe with tv and a snack while you get a bit more rest. Also our dd will only sleep in if she's utterly exhausted (and she had dropped her nap by 2.5). Some kids really need to be utterly exhausted to sleep longer than 10 hours.

Dd (3.4) has now worked out she can eat biscuits and play on the ipad uninterrupted if she doesn't wake us up. Fine by me :)

I don't think it'll help: could even make it worse. Can you try a groclock. Dd has been obeying hers since she was 2.3 and she is 2.9 also now. She gets it- she knocks on her door at 6.45 to be 'Let out!'
