Worried About DS almost 3

His pronunciation is really bad. Even as his mother I can't understand most words he says. He'll make up new words for things.

He doesn't have a tripod grip when holding a pen.

Otherwise he's happy and normal. He talks a lot, but gets shy quickly when he does something good and I notice. Like he doesn't like the attention.

Anything I can do to improve pronunciation?

Have you seen your GP or hv?
If you're concerned, go and see them. They'll either put your mind at rest, or refer you on.

At his 2 year development check up the hv said he was fine. But my gut instinct has always told me there is something wrong with his speech. I'm meeting his nursery teacher tomorrow for a parent update so I'll ask her too.

My dd when younger developed a stammer, I took her the doctor. He said it was perfectly normal at that age, trying to speak faster than brain sort of thing.
As a now 12 year old, she still lacks that filter between mouth and brain at times Grin.
Oh yes, definitely ask nursery. I'd have thought they'd have pulled you to one side by now though if they had concerns.

I would sort out a SALT assesent. Most areas accept self referrals for Salt. Just google the phone number for your local Salt department.
