Sorry, sulking and stropping that he doesn't get his own way.

He doesn't take care of his things, every thing we ask takes about three or four times and is met with huffing and puffing.

It's driving us all mad but I don't know what to do.

I haven't got any advice I'm afraid as I've come on here to get some for my 7 year-old's behaviour! He's also behaving like a brat - complete tantrum today on a day out as we suggested going for a short walk while we waited for our entrance time. His assumption that everything should fall into his lap and go his own way is driving me to despair!

So I feel your pain.

My DS was going this way earlier this year. A complete screen ban for a week, with all his gadgets removed (I took them all to work) had a very salutary effect as he realised that there are real sanctions and that his father and I are quite prepared to employ them.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Hmm

This afternoon improved a little. He damaged something this morning doing something I had told him not to do. I took him to Sainsvurys with his money box and made him replace it.

Ds2 also took his money box and bought some Lego so I hope he got the message.

We had a screen ban a couple of weeks back and it worked a treat. I'm thinking it might be time for another one...

DS (7) is the bloody same!

I think it's the lack of routine on weekends, so I've tried to establish a different routine, but still a routine.

Also, I've realised if I let him stay up a little bit later on a Friday then I get hell to pay on Saturday - as evidence by the last weekend's monumental strops that could be heard down the street. So that ends now.

Ds 7.10 is getting better (or am I just getting more used to it Confused ). I found 5-7 very hard work for the reasons you have said.
My advice, don't react to it. If he shouts don't shout back, stay calm and follow through with punishment. Easier said than done though.
