My 3 month old ds was born on the 50th centile. I ebf until 2 weeks ago because he had dropped to the 1st centile in weight and was fussy and not sleeping. Since switching to bottle feeding both formula and expressed milk he is much happier and sleeping much better but now I'm worried he's taking too much milk. He has gone from 9.7lb to 11lb in 2 weeks and feeds all the time. He drinks about 40oz a day, but the spits up constantly (he did this when breast feeding but not as much).
Do you think he's just making up for lost time and it will slow or should I be trying to restrict him?
I use slow nipples on the bottle and I don't encourage him to take more.
My other child was ebf so I haven't bottle fed before.
I will be seeing the hv on Thursday but I wanted so advice from mums as well.
Thanks.

He might like the comfort of it, would you consider a dummy? If he was EBF, he may have been sucking for comfort more than eating?

I would assume he was playing catch up and will slow down when he gets back up to he's birth line, I personally would just have regular weigh ins if you have a drop in baby clinic.
Congratulations btw.

He had a dummy but I got rid of it when I realised he wasn't gaining weight as he should. The hv said he may not be bf enough because of it. Maybe I could go back now he's on bottles.
