20 Month Old - Meal trouble

My 20 month old son was a really keen eater whilst weaning, would eat pretty much everything you gave him, pureed foods weren't a problem, but for a while now I'm struggling to get him to eat a variety of foods, if he had it his way he would have nuggets and chips all the time.

We all eat at the same time, pretty much eat the same foods, but my son just doesn't seem to want it any of it, and will get angry/upset if we try to feed him.

It is mainly cooked meals that he won't eat, although sometimes I have trouble getting him to eat a sandwich/roll etc..

I really don't know what to do.

How can I encourage him to eat?

What do I do if he doesn't eat the food I give him? Do I try and find something he will eat just so he eats something or does he just go without?!

Thanks in advance

It can be worrying but if he's hungry he will eat.

Just serve the food and if he doesn't eat it, ignore the protests and eat your meal, chat and stay relaxed. Offer him small portions and never offer an alternative. It might take him 2 or 3 days but he'll realise soon there isn't anything else and if he's hungry he'd better eat Smile

They all have days when they eat very little so try not to worry too much over one meal Smile
